The County of Renfrew will be spending over half a million dollars to demolish and rebuild an affordable unit in the City of Pembroke.
County Council received an update about the property at 202 Cecil Street in Pembroke, which is a single family, rent-geared-to-income home that is part of the Renfrew County Housing Corporation portfolio.
The home was built in 1975 and a recent building condition assessment shows it’s in a poor state of repair.
County staff say the plan is to rebuild a duplex on the site that would create an additional affordable rental unit.
The cost of the project is estimated to be $545,471 and the project would be funded through the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
County of Renfrew staff have been directed to start the tender process to complete the demolition and rebuild of the unit.
