Shulist Family Farm in Combermere is one of the host sites for the first Farms Open event in Renfrew County. Halinka Shulist says the farm has been in the family for five generations. After graduating from the University of Guelph, Halinka and her husband Paul moved back to the area and started to grow the farm operation while she worked as an elementary school teacher.
Staṡ Shulist says the farm in Combermere raises beef, pork, chickens and lamb without chemicals, anti-biotics, growth hormones on pasture and organic feed.
As part of the Farms Open event on Sunday, Shulist Family Farm will have fresh produce and frozen meats for sale, hot and ready food, with guided farm tours, demonstrations, crafts and art for sale (cash only).
There are nine host sites for the first Farms Open event in Renfrew County including Shulist Family Farm, Calabogie Rustic Farm & Market, Alder Creek Farm, Mapleside Sugarbush, Forest Cove Alpacas, Ottawa Valley Farm to Fork, Pinnacle Haven Farm, Sernoskie’s Tree Farm and Cardaleacres.
The Farms Open event runs Sunday, September 18th from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
