It might have felt warmer than usual, but Environment Canada’s monthly recap says July’s weather fell within seasonal norms for the Ottawa Valley and Southern Ontario.
There was a stretch of days in the middle of the month where our regions experienced a spike in heat. July 19th saw temperatures reach into the mid thirties alongside severe thunderstorms through the southern part of the province.
In spite of the storms, July as a whole was dry for the Ottawa Valley, with precipitation falling well below monthly averages.
There was also a series of strong winds and a tornado that rolled though Eastern Ontario that damaged structures and power lines on July 24th.
Looking ahead to August, Environment Canada says the start of the month is expected to get higher-than-normal temperatures across our region. You can expect a relatively dry open to august as well.
