There’s a new park being built in Petawawa. The neighbourhood park on Liam Street will include two different playgrounds, swing sets, bike racks, a shaded area, benches, garbage and pet waste areas and a walking path with landscaping boulders. Some of the unique features for the park include leaf wobble boards, log steppers and a spiderweb playground climber.
Deputy Mayor Gary Serviss says it’s great to see the community continuing to grow.
The park will be located on Liam Street in Petawawa, near the new 96 unit subdivision that’s being built.
Town council plans to award the contract to build the Laurentian Highlands Park to Eastway Contacting for $362,274 plus HST. Council budgeted $385,000 for the project this year. Serviss says the park will be built in an existing storm water management area to take advantage of the space.
Other recent development in the area includes a Tim Hortons and Harvey’s, a Remax office, Marriott hotel and plans are in the works to open a new Food Basics grocery store nearby in the spring of 2023.
