Jessica (Center) and Greg (Left) Laird present their donation to RVH's Charlene Shaw (2nd left)
It was a revelation that only could come from donating a kidney.
Jessica Laird donated a kidney to her husband Greg, whose father owns Sleepy George’s Mattress Factory Outlet in Pembroke, when they learned that his were failing.
The couple’s treatment at Renfrew Victoria Hospital’s Dialysis Unit was so outstanding, they fundraised a $2,200 donation for the Dialysis Unit through the store.
Laird tells myFM that medical care at RVH outclassed service they received in Ottawa, making a fundraiser for the local hospital a no-doubter.
Nephrology Coordinator Charlene Shaw accepted the donation during a rendezvous at the hospital on Thursday, June 30th. She says that the money will go towards improving the tools they use to save lives like Greg’s.
Shaw notes that Renfrew Victoria Hospital is the main hub for dialysis treatment in Renfrew County.
