The Town of Petawawa has presented outstanding student citizenship awards to eight young individuals.
Petawawa Mayor Bob Sweet and Beverly Bimm, the coordinator, presented the outstanding student citizenship awards as part of Monday nights council meeting (June 13th, 2022).
Bimm says this is the first time the awards have been handed out in two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
She adds the outstanding student citizenship awards are not based on grades, but community involvement.
Petawawa Mayor Bob Sweet says he is extremely proud of these young folks and knows they will make a difference in the world based on their education and volunteering in Petawawa.
Bimm has been coordinating the outstanding student citizenship awards for the last 17-years and says this will be her last year.
In the last 17-years, roughly 120 students have been recognized in Petawawa.
