Local residents are invited to take part in a community cleanup in Pembroke. Volunteers can meet on Saturday, May 7th from 9:00am to noon at the Pembroke Farmers’ Market, at the corner of Victoria Street and Lake Street. Those who show up will receive bags and gloves before heading out to pick up garbage in different parts of the city. The Miller Group has donated their services by assisting with the collection of debris during the cleanup.
Local residents and businesses can also sponsor a flower box on the Pembroke Street and Lake Street Bridges for $50. Those interested in sponsoring a flower box can contact Jo-Anne Schutt at 613-735-6821 ext.1510.
The adopt-a-park/adopt-a-roadway program encourages residents to be actively involved in the maintenance of a park. This could include doing regular litter pickups or walkthroughs with follow-ups to the City to report any issues or concerns. Anyone interested in adopting an area can contact the Parks & Recreation Department office at 613-735-6821 ext. 1501 or email recreation@pembroke.ca.
