Long time Director of the Women’s Sexual Assault Centre of Renfrew County is calling it a career. JoAnne Brooks is retiring this summer, celebrating an almost 30-year career. She tells us that she will now focus her time with family.
JoAnne was a founding member of the Women’s Sexual Assault Centre in 1993 at a time when sexual violence was a silent secret and there were few supports for survivors of sexual violence in Renfrew County. Brooks says she’s had so many highlights of her tenure.
In the meantime, another long-time WSAC employee will be filling the Interim Centre Director role through the hiring process for a new Centre Director.
