A significant amount of planning has already gone into the 25th anniversary celebrations for the Town of Petawawa. Petawawa Mayor Bob Sweet tells myFM he is looking forward to the event this summer.
The Mayor says the town plans to combine Civic Centre Days with Canada Day celebrations into one large festival.
Sweet says there will be something for everyone in the family to enjoy from young children to seniors and he adds it will be an action packed weekend.
Staff and council are working to confirm musical acts which will all take place on stage at Soccer Field #1, near the Kinhut. A legacy project is in the works that would see a 4-season Comfort Station set up along the Algonquin Trail in Petawawa. Plans are also in the works for a time capsule that can be dug up at the next event. Mayor Bob Sweet says a time capsule was buried 25-years-ago in 1997, under first base at a local ball diamond. Another meeting to help plan the event has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 19th, 2022.
The 25th anniversary celebration for the Town of Petawawa would start on Thursday, June 30th, 2022 and wrap up Sunday, July 3rd, 2022. In 1997, the Village of Petawawa and Township of Petawawa were brought together.
The Town of Petawawa has applied for a grant and if approved, all events for the weekend will be free.
