The community watch program in Pembroke is growing. City Councillor Brian Abdallah tells myFM they have two neighbourhoods signed up.
The first community watch zone established in Pembroke covers Chamberlain Street from River Road to Mackay Street. Abdallah says the second community watch zone is around the Victoria Centre in Pembroke and credits work from volunteers to help get things up and running.
The city councillor and co-chair of the community watch program says it’s an easy process to get your neighbourhood involved and tells myFM you need the majority (over 51%) of support from those living in your area.
Councillor Abdallah says they will be having another meeting on Monday night (April 4th, 2022) at the Pembroke Fire Hall starting at 7:00pm. He says it’s a great opportunity to learn more about the community watch program and find out how you can register your neighbourhood to take part.
The local community watch program will also have a booth with volunteers set up at the Pembroke Community Expo (May 13th and 14th, 2022).
Anyone who wants to get involved in the community watch program can email councillor Abdallah (babdallah@pembroke.ca), deputy Mayor Ron Gervais (rgervais@pembroke.ca) or pembrokecwatch@gmail.com.
