Pembroke Regional Hospital is loosening it’s COVID restrictions for bedside visitors starting Monday.
Carolyn Levesque, Public Affairs and Communications Coordinator for the hospital let myFM know that patients are now allowed two visitors or caregivers at bedside at the same time.
This comes as hospitals across Renfrew County are beginning to transition to what the they are calling “Low Pandemic Restrictions”.
Also, general visitors will not need to be designated for entry like before. However, they will still need to be masked for the duration of their visit, provide proof of vaccination and pass screening to enter the hospital.
Levesque adds that these new rules will not apply to units that are suffering from an outbreak at the time of the visit.
Hospital President and CEO Pierre Noel tells myFM that they “recognize the important role visitors play in a patient’s recovery” and they are “pleased that a decrease in COVID cases and hospitalizations are allowing them to once again lift some of the tight restrictions” that were imposed.
Noel added the “policy updates are certainly a step in the right direction” but asks everyone to “remain vigilant and safe.
Pembroke Regional Hospital would like to remind visitors that hospitals are considered “highest risk” settings for viral infection, and ask that you comply with all COVID protocols when visiting the hospital.
