Got You in Mind will celebrate 10-years serving people in the Pembroke area on May 14th, 2022. Owner and operator Blanche Mirault-Ducey tells myFM she is always happy to help people in the community and provide support to anyone who needs it.
Mirault-Ducey wants everyone in the community to have a place that they can come home to. She encourages those struggling to never give up and says she will be there to laugh, cry or scream with.
Over the cold winter months, she created the free coat initiative with donations of coats, hats and mitts placed on a rack outside the store for anyone who needs them. The owner at Got You in Mind has helped supply 1,600 winter coats to people in need in the community over the last two years.
The local thrift store recently moved to a new location at 174 Albert Street, behind Brown’s Auto and behind the Scotiabank in Pembroke.
She says she donated a lot of clothes, dishes and other items to people in need when she moved to the new smaller location.
Mirault-Ducey tells myFM she’s looking for community support and donations leading up to the 10-year anniversary of Got You in Mind, which also happens to fall on her 60th birthday.
Mirault-Ducey hopes to have a fundraiser leading up to their anniversary to help keep the doors open at Got You in Mind.
The thrift store operates on donations without assistance from provincial or federal grants. Mirault-Ducey says they run off donations from residents and businesses with proceeds going back into the community and helping pay for the bills at the new building.
She adds donations of cash, clothing and other items are always welcome, but encourages you to give her a call before dropping stuff off to ensure it makes it inside. Mirault-Ducey can be reached by phone at 613-602-1789.
Got You in Mind plans to be open 11:00am to 6:00pm this summer.
Blanche Mirault-Ducey has been recognized by 104.9 myFM as an unsung hero in the community and the United Way East Ontario has presented her with a Community Builder award. for her contributions and support to people in Pembroke and the surrounding area.
