A new soup kitchen is opening at the Wesley United Church in Pembroke.
Local resident Rhonda Belisle had the idea to open the soup kitchen and says she wanted it to compliment services that are already offered in the community by the Grind and St. Vincent de Paul.
Starting March 5th and every Saturday from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, soup, sandwiches, coffee and tea will be served up at the Wesley United Church in Pembroke.
She says it’s important for families to get meals so nobody goes hungry, adding the church was happy to let her use the space. You can just show up at the church, located at 275 Pembroke Street East, and the service is open to anyone who needs a meal.
Capacity limits will lift in Ontario and COVID-19 vaccine passports will no longer be required in Ontario starting March 1st.
Donations can be made to the Wesley United Church Soup Kitchen to support the initiative.
