As a joint-command police operation led by the Ottawa Police Service escalated its action Saturday, ranks of Freedom Convoy protestors are thinning in the Parliamentary Precinct of the Nation’s Capital.
But when the big rigs leave Ottawa, where do they go?
Some abandon trucks are towed to impound- and yes, some participants are making their way to Arnprior, as suggested by Freedom Convoy organizer, Pat King, at the time of his arrest (which he had broadcast on Facebook Live Friday).
While the Arnprior Airport Commission had allowed convoy participants to overnight en route to Ottawa three weeks ago, that is not the case this weekend.
myFM has observed a contingent of mostly-flagged pickup trucks make their way individually to the Antrim Truck Stop’s separate fleet parking lot, gather at what appears to be a mustering point, and then separately disperse north along White Lake Road to an unknown destination.
Our reporter did not pursue those exiting Antrim beyond the Highway 2 Madawaska Bridge due to white-out conditions.
That leaves us to share what must remain speculation that a sympathetic property owner may have offered convoy participants a campsite as members contemplate whether they take further action- or decide to disperse.
