Laurentian Valley is planning extensive renovations to the old Timberline Snowmobile Clubhouse located next to the popular skating trail. Council has budgeted $462,000 for investments into the building in 2022. Public Works Director and President of the Four Seasons Trail Mark Behm says they are looking to rebrand the old Timberline Snowmobile Clubhouse to the Laurentian Valley or “LV Lodge”.
He adds the snowmobile club no longer operates at the building located at the entrance to the Four Seasons Trail, formerly known as the Laurentian Valley Skating Trail.
Behm says they hope to be able to use the building as a spot to warm up, be able to rent it out and offer a canteen serving up coffee, hot chocolate and other snacks.
The $462,000 that was in the Township’s 2022 budget was all contingent on the Laurentian Valley receiving two separate 100% funded grants.
Laurentian Valley received a grant for $100,000 for lighting and other improvements along the trail, but we were recently notified that the $362,000 grant for the building renovation was not successful so there will not be improvements made to the building this year.
Staring this month, (January 2022), the new name for the popular skating trail is the Laurentian Valley Four Seasons Trail. The Township of Laurentian Valley has approved the formation of a committee to oversee the trail. Behm says they would like to branch-out from being just a skating trail to something people can use year round. The LV Lodge is located right next to the Four Seasons Trail at 2 Henan Road in Laurentian Valley, by the Alice & Fraser Recreation Centre.
