The Town of Petawawa is planning to increase development charges.
A public meeting was help on Monday night (December 6th, 2021) to review the information.
The proposed changes would see residential development charges (for a single detached dwelling) go up from $5,993 to $7,082, an increase of $1,089.
Only Renfrew at $9,500 and Arnprior at $15,601 have higher residential development charges in the county.
In the City of Pembroke the cost for development charges is $3,779 for a single detached dwelling.
In terms of commercial development charges, the rates in Petawawa would increase from $3.47 to $4.07 a square foot.
Petawawa is also considering charging interest on outstanding fees for development charges.
Mayor Bob Sweet says the development charges are important to fund infrastructure in the town.
The Town of Petawawa will consider changing the development charges by-law at the January 17th, 2022 council meeting.
