The Garrison Petawawa Homefire Festival of Lights returns for a second year. Lead organizer Major Kim Marchand says it’s an exciting initiative that gets you in the holiday mood. She adds 13 units have decorated a 1-kilometer section of forested trail on the base. You can expect to see military vehicles decorated for the holiday season along the pathway.
Marchand says her unit, 2 Combat Engineer Regiment, started the event last year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, last year the public was not allowed to attend
Marchand adds for the 2021 edition, local residents can sign up to drive-thru on December 12th.
Members of the Canadian Armed Forces will have the opportunity to take in the Festival of Lights all throughout the week, with Sunday, December 12th dedicated for the public.
The free tickets will be available online at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, December 1st, 2021.
Those taking part in the Festival of Lights will use the back entrance to the Garrison between the main gates and Highway 17. A link to get the tickets will be posted on the the social media channels operated by Garrison Petawawa or through EventBrite.
