It’s been 70 years since the Pembroke Memorial Centre opened its doors, and the history of Lumber King hockey began. Seven decades of Lumber Kings Alumni were part of a special pregame ceremony last night, honoring the buildings legacy to this community. myFM news caught up with Rob Wilson who wore #19 for the red and white from 1976 to 1979 and he says he felt like a kid again being back on the ice.
When asked about his time playing at the PMC as part of the Lumber Kings organization, he says he has one major highlight.
Wilson says it’s was pretty special being back on the ice after all these years.
Current Owner and Head Coach of the Pembroke Lumber Kings, Alex Armstrong says it’s no secret that you feel the history of Jr. Hockey inside the Pembroke Memorial Centre every time he steps behind the bench.
Over 500 fans packed the PMC last night as the Kings extended their win streak to six games with a 2-1 overtime victory against the Kemptville 73’s.
