Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) has issued a call for proposals for the latest round of its Canadian Nuclear Research Initiative (CNRI) program.
Now in its third year, the initiative seeks to to accelerate the deployment of small modular reactor (SMRs) and advanced reactor (AR) designs, including next-generation on-grid reactors and fusion technologies.
Deadline for this round of submissions is December 22nd (2021), and projects will be selected in the Spring.
Canadian Nuclear Laboratories believes that given the impacts of global warming its key to advance the SMR technologies as quickly as possible.
Once a technical review of each proposal is completed, CNL will work with the proponent to develop a plan to establish the scope, budget, and deliverables expected.
That will be followed by a final evaluation before decisions are made.
