Two women from the Ottawa Valley will be competing in the 800 meter race at the Tokyo Olympics tomorrow night (July 29th, 2021).
Madeleine Kelly of Pembroke and Melissa Bishop-Nriagu of Eganville both call Renfrew County home.
Kelly is competing in her first Olympic games and will run in heat number one which is expected to start around 9:25pm (eastern time). Kelly won bronze at the Canadian Olympic Trials to earn her spot in Tokyo.
For Bishop-Nriagu, it’s her third Olympics and she will try to improve on her 4th place finish at the Rio games. The runner from Eganville will be in the third heat, expected to start at 9:41pm (eastern time).
