Youth are being blamed for several fires in Petawawa.
Deputy Fire Chief Craig Proulx says last month (May 17th, 2021), crews responded to a fire in the bush on Water Tower Road.
He adds the fire was 100 feet by 100 feet and was lit by some youth who had a fort in the bush.
The Deputy Fire Chief says they left the scene before crews arrived and the OPP was notified.
On May 31st, firefighters in Petawawa responded to a grass fire near Industrial Avenue and Winston Avenue.
Proulx says the blaze was started by youth who were seen leaving the area before the fire department arrived.
The Petawawa Fire Department was able to control and extinguish both the bush and grass fires.
There was no mention of any charges relating to either incident, however police have been notified.
