Charges have been laid in connection to a sudden death investigation in the City of Pembroke. Back on April 28th, police were called to a home on Elizabeth Street where 58-year-old Jim Witters of Pembroke, was found unresponsive and later died at the hospital. The cause of death remains under investigation and toxicology results are pending. 55-year-old Clement Mainville of Pembroke has since been arrested and charged with obstructing a peace officer and trafficking fentanyl.
The accused was released and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on July 6, 2021.
The investigation is continuing with the assistance of the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario (OCCO) and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS).
