Recent family physician retirements are spurring a shortage of primary care givers in Renfrew County.
But doctor shortages are nothing new for the county, according to warden, Debbie Robinson.
Robinson is tasked by the Pembroke Regional Hospital with recruiting physicians to the area, who says the difficulty is finding doctors who are willing to uproot their families and take up shop in the Ottawa Valley.
She says there are talks with the province of introducing primary virtual care for doctors who want to serve the community but not want to relocate.
Robinson implores residents without doctors to place their names on the provincial waitlist, which in turn, place even more urgency onto the Ministry of Health to find more doctors.
