Over the years, Melissa Robinson has worked a daycare centers in Port Hope, Cobourg and Ottawa, before making her way to Pembroke in 2011, where she found her way to Wise Owl Daycare Centre. Robinson operates the junior school-age program at the Centre and says the pandemic has taken its toll on both staff and children. She talks about the struggles with coping around the new health and safety regulations from both the Ministry of Education and the local health unit. Wise Owl Daycare Centre is a not-for-profit facility that works with children aged newborns-12 and is located on Isabella Street in Pembroke.
