An initiative that came together in May of 2017 now has all of the partners on board, and Renfrew Mayor Don Eady says the Mat-te-way expansion is a go.
A second ice pad for the facility is augmented by six dressing rooms, a gym and fitness centre, an elevated walking track, an Indigenous cultural centre, office and leasing spaces.
The Mayor says the new Ma-te-way amenities don’t just service the Town of Renfrew, but all of the surrounding communities.
While the contractor to do the job has yet to be selected, Eady says everybody is eager to get going- possibly as early as June.
Canada’s contribution is over 6.4 million, the Province is putting in in excess of 5.3 million, leaving the municipal investment at over 4.2 million dollars.
