Fritz is a 19-year-old valley boy who recently graduated, alongside his brother from the dairy program at Lakeland College in Alberta. The Petermann family, local dairy farmers, proud to be the second generation on the home farm of parents Georges-Andre and Christiane who moved to Canada from Switzerland in 1980. Farmstead Cheesehouse was birthed from their desire as milk producers to be connected in a more meaningful way to the people who eat the food they produce. Fritz’s parents, Nick and Steph, raised four children- Fiona, Sonya, Fritz and Franz- on the farm. There the children learned to care for the animals and the land has been a responsibility and privilege they’ve shared together and everyone took their turn ; milking the cows, feeding and cleaning, planting crops, picking stones, harvesting and tending the vegetable garden.
