A massive failure in the BELL phone and internet system is affecting both cell phone service and Voice-Over-Internet Protocol phones this afternoon.
Renfrew County EMS Chief Mike Nolan says if you need to reach paramedics, or have any requirement to access 911 this afternoon, call it from your land-line- or access a land-line nearby to assure your calls go through.
Nolan says he understands that BELL service is impacted along its network from Montreal to Toronto, and perhaps beyond.
While there are pockets of service, including in the Pembroke area, and ROGERS service appears unaffected, Nolan’s best advice is to call 911 from a land-line for any emergency you may expereince this afternoon.
