The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) has put out a list of safety tips for anyone planning to attend demonstrations or protests.
A Black Lives Matter rally is planned in Pembroke today (June 9th) and another on Friday (June 12th) in Renfrew.
The RCDHU says during the pandemic online protesting virtually or through social media is the safest way of having your voice heard. The local health unit says if you still plan to attend any gathering you should:
- keep a 2-meter distance from others,
- wear a non-medical mask,
- carry hand sanitizer,
- avoid sharing food or drink,
- shouting increases the spread of droplets so consider noise makers, drums or signs,
- monitor yourself for symptoms if you think you’ve been exposed to COVID-19
- avoid participating in demonstrations if you’re sick or part of a high risk group
