Driver has vehicle stolen after offering suspects a ride

OPP are investigating after someone had their vehicle stolen after stopping to help two people they saw walking on Highway 17. Police say a driver offered a man and a woman a ride around 2pm yesterday (Wednesday) in Head, Clara and Maria township, and police say that’s when one of the suspects pulled out a weapon and demanded the victim surrender the vehicle. The victim complied and the two suspects took off in the vehicle. The victim was not injured. The OPP were called in and two suspects were arrested soon after. 38 year old Matthew Sinobert of Brunswick House First Nation and 27 year old Kayla White of Chapleau have both been charged with robbery, forcible confinement, theft of a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime, while Sinobert is also charged with assault with a weapon. Both were held for a bail hearing today in Pembroke.
