The Renfrew County Health Unit is urging anyone who had tattooing done at a home based tattoo business in Renfrew, to get tested for bloodborne infections. Manager of Healthy Environments, David Tantalo, says you should get yourself tested for HIV and hepatitis B and C as soon as possible.
He adds an inspection was done after a previous customer complained about the business oat 128 Raglan Street South.
The investigation revealed the operation was not following proper infection prevention and control procedures for disinfection and storage of the tattoo equipment in accordance with provincial standards. Officials say it was home-based and in downtown Renfrew they shut down.
If you don’t have a health care provider, you’re encouraged to contact the health unit. The home-based business is now closed and the health unit says they’ve found no evidence of infection to clients.
The tattoos were done by Christina Wall who has since taken to social media to apologize for her actions. She goes on to say she tattooed a couple of girlfriends and never worked with people she didn’t know.
