Small boutique stores in nicely renovated shipping containers could be coming to Petawawa in the near future. The town is continuing to explore the idea of a market container development project. Economic Development Officer Christine Mitchell says the market container development project would be for home based or small businesses looking to make the next step in the marketplace. Mitchell says having a model for visual representation would be helpful for land owners to see if it’s something they would consider having on their property and for entrepreneurs to see how their idea would fit.
Mitchell says there are many vacant properties in Petawawa that would work well for this type of build.
She adds they’re moving forward with 3rd party consultations on designs, limitations and expectations with a goal to come back to council early next year.
