A new quarry has been proposed by Petawawa Pine Forest Services along Summers Road. There are two homes on Summers Road, which connects to Black Bay Road and is only two kilometres west of Highway 17. A report was presented to Petawawa council by planner Eric Bays who says they will be doing all the necessary studies before moving forward.
He says Petawawa Pine plans to apply for an aggregate license for rock extraction. Bays adds they’re hoping to move forward as quickly as possible and the rock extracted would be used to help build local roads and sidewalks. The proposed entrance for the new quarry and haul route runs along a neighbour’s property. Bays says the neighbour has given Petawawa Pines their full support and council has given preliminary support for the project.
