The twinning of the Algonquin Trail in Petawawa is officially complete now and the trail open to the public. On Friday morning, municipal councillors, staff and members of the local snowmobile and ATV clubs were on hand for the official ribbon cutting of the trail. The over two kilometre stretch of trail runs through the heart of Petawawa and is meant to keep non-motorized traffic safe. Recreation Manager for the town, Kelly Williams says it’s exciting to see the paved trail finally complete.
Mayor Bob Sweet says there are still some minor beautification features to add but the trail is open for the public to use in the meantime.
