The Town of Petawawa is paving the way for a new subdivision. On Monday night, the town approved the draft plans for Portage Landing which includes a total of 98 lots and seven blocks. The owner is responsible for the design, construction, installation and maintenance work which is expected to cost around $1.1-million. This will include the roads, sidewalks, storm and sanitary sewer systems, watermains, underground utilities, hydro, street lighting, top soil and tree planting. Over the last several years, Waito Homes has been building between 15 and 20 new houses per year in Portage Landing. Waito Homes is the developer for the new subdivision off of Portage Road on Terrance Drive. With council giving the green light earlier this week, another two homes are expected to be built this fall with completion dates before the end of the year. Most of the homes are single family units, either two or three bedrooms with a garage, roughly 1,100 square feet and start around $300,000. A preview of one of the new houses is available online here.
