The health unit is leaving the county administration building in Pembroke. The Renfrew County District Health Unit has served notice and plans to terminate its current lease on July 1st, 2020. Some concerns raised at county council at the end of August about the health unit leaving, included the fact that if the power goes out where they’re currently located, they have a 3-day back-up generator to keep supplies from expiring. Chief Administrative Officer for the County of Renfrew, Paul Moreau, says while it’s unfortunate the health unit is leaving, they will still be bringing together several important county offered services under one roof.
Plans for the renovations at the county administration building will be presented in the fall with work expected to start in the spring. Moreau says he’s sad to see the long term tenants go, but with the planned renovations at 7 International Drive in Pembroke, the space for the health unit would have been cut in half.
