It’s not a question of capacity, it’s a question of education.
The Ottawa Valley Waste Recovery Centre (OVWRC) is seeing a lot more trash and recycling being trucked in, as a number of Valley municipalities are now doing business with the facility following the closure of Beaumen Waste Management in June.
Elizabeth Graham at the OVWRC says it’s a matter of getting the new customers in tune with what may be higher separation standards than previously demanded in these municipalities.
It is in the town or township’s interest to have residents adopt proper recycling habits to reduce the tipping fee per tonne and/or risk their materials will not being accepted at the Centre.
