Local police lay several charges during separate safety campaigns

Local police have been busy over the past couple of weeks. The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment recently wrapped up the Fall Seatbelt Campaign which ran from September 26th to October 5th. During the initiative officers stressed the importance of seatbelt use and charged 83 motorists. Police in Pembroke also took part in Operation Impact over the long weekend paying attention to the “Big 4”. Officers handed out 103 speeding tickets, 12 hazardous moving violations, five distracted driving charges along with five seatbelt infractions. There were no impaired driving charges laid, however eight drivers lost their license for stunt driving.
