A local fundraiser supporting cancer care and hospital equipment needs has raised more than $50,000 this year, bringing its five-year total to more than $185,000.
The Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation says the 2026 Walk for Her raised $50,402.51, more than doubling its original fundraising goal of $20,000.
Since the event began in 2021, it has raised a total of $185,060.51 for cancer care and priority equipment needs at Pembroke Regional Hospital.
The foundation is recognizing event founder and organizer Lana Gorr for her continued efforts in bringing the community together to support local health care.
Foundation executive director Roger Martin says the fundraiser’s success demonstrates the impact community support can have on health care close to home.
Money raised through the event helps fund priority equipment and initiatives through the foundation’s Together, We Care campaign.
Gorr says she’s grateful for the continued support from participants, volunteers, sponsors, donors and community partners who have helped make the event successful.
The foundation is also encouraging other individuals and organizations to consider hosting their own fundraisers in support of local health care.
