Ben Hokum and Son Limited is marking 70 years in business with a $70,000 donation to the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation’s Together, We Care Campaign.
The donation was announced Oct. 9 during the company’s anniversary celebration at its Golden Lake sawmill.
Company president Dean Felhaber, along with his wife Tanya and their children, presented the gift in support of local health care.
Felhaber says the hospital has played an important role in his family’s life, with all five of his children born at Pembroke Regional Hospital.
The donation will help fund priority equipment and technology needs at the hospital.
In recognition of the family’s longstanding support, hospital president and CEO Sabine Mersmann announced that Room 406, where all five Felhaber children were born, will be named in honour of Ben Hokum and Son.
Foundation executive director Roger Martin says the contribution is an example of corporate leadership and community generosity.
Founded in 1956, Ben Hokum and Son has grown into one of the region’s leading forestry companies while maintaining strong ties to communities throughout the Upper Ottawa Valley.
