Re-elected Laurentian Valley councillor Wendy Hewitt says it’s an honour to have another term to represent constituents and be a voice in the valley.
Hewitt was re-elected to her second term after receiving 1,480 votes, and says this campaign was a lot different from her first one.
“I felt a little more pressure because we had five people on council, and all of them were seeking re-election,” she says. “In addition, we had five new, so the ballot was 10, so we had no idea where we were going to sit.”
Hewitt says she doesn’t have any main points she wants to address yet, except for one she promised during the candidates’ night, and that’s to improve communication at the council table.
“I personally needed to make a promise to the public that we’re better communicators to the public,” she says. “I don’t personally feel that I want to accomplish something, it’s about being a team. That is my only priority right now.”
Other elected councillors include incumbents Allan Wren, Brian Hugli and newcomers Jay Geddes as well as Jason Schulz.
