Ricky Sangster passed away unexpectedly at home.
Originally from Nova Scotia, Rick was a proud veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces. He served with the 1st Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery and the 2nd Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, including a peacekeeping mission with the United Nations.
Rick is survived and deeply missed by his wife Donna (née Woermke), cherished father of Jennifer (Joshua Mackie) and Tyler (Stephanie), all of Pembroke, and the proud Papa of Jasper, Vada, Jake, and Lincoln. Rick was the beloved son of Ivy Sangster (née Gillie) and the late Ward Sangster of New Harbour, Nova Scotia. Dear brother of Cheryl (Jamie), Jeff, and Clay (Roma), all of Nova Scotia; Bonnie (Dave) of New Brunswick; and the late Robin. Cherished son-in-law of the late Harold & the late Rita Woermke (nee Lewis). Brother-in-law of Barry (Arlene) and Terry (Holly). He will also be remembered by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family, and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at Zion Evangelical United Church, 368 Miller Street, Pembroke, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. The service will be available virtually by visiting www.mdbfuneralhome.com A celebration of Rick’s life will follow in the church hall.
Respecting Rick’s wishes, he will be brought home to rest in New Harbour, Nova Scotia, with interment of his ashes taking place at a later date at Riverside Cemetery, New Harbour, Guysborough County, Nova Scotia. As an expression of sympathy, donations to The Wounded Warriors or The Royal Canadian Legion would be appreciated.
