High school students from across Ontario came to Pembroke this week to represent their school on the hardwood in the 2026 OFSAA boys’ AA basketball championship tournament.
The bracket ran from March 9th to 12th at Fellowes High School. The tournament was initially meant to conclude on March 11th, but an ice storm that led to the school closing that day caused the final day’s worth of games to be rescheduled.
Pat Childerhose, a teacher and coach at Fellowes, said the event went extremely well despite the weather incident.
According to Childerhose, the process for organizing and hosting the tournament began about a year and a half ago, and he and his team are very happy to have been selected.
Childerhose also commended the players and coaches that took part for putting on strong, exciting performances during their games.
WC Kennedy Collegiate ultimately earned the gold medal at the tournament, defeating Nottawasaga Pines in the final game with a score of 67 to 46.
