James Royce Slater
Gracefully, at home with Phyllis by his side, on Sunday February 15, 2026 at the age of 97 years. Royce Slater of Petawawa, beloved husband for 71 years of Phyllis Slater (nee McCormack). Loved father of Dale Slater (Theresa Sabourin), Debi Desarmia (Des), Sheri Helferty (Barry), Connie Luckasavitch (Tom) and Glen Slater.
Loving Poppa to Haley Everson (Craig), Mandy Helferty (Ryan), Garnet Slater (Stephanie), Sean Desarmia (Lisa), Jessica Simpson (Chris), Michael Luckasavitch (Angela), Matthew Helferty (Olivia), Brent Luckasavitch (Casey), Dean Desarmia, Jody Pasma (Dan), 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Last surviving child of the late James and Henrietta (nee Storing) Slater and predeceased by his sisters Lola McShane, Ila Hermer, Ida Yackobeck, Ilena Ellenberger and brother Keith Slater. Survived by Brother-in-law Rodney McCormack and sister-in-law Pauline Slater (nee MCormack).
Sadly missed by all his nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Royce with his family during visitation at the Murphy Funeral Home, 296 Isabella Street, Pembroke on Friday February 20th 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday February 21st at 11:00 a.m. in Petawawa Presbyterian Church, 24 Ethel Street, Petawawa. Spring interment St. Luke’s United Cemetery, Denbigh ON. In memory of Royce, donations to Petawawa Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
