The Ontario Energy Board (or OEB) has reduced its aid programs that help low-income earners pay energy bills to pre-pandemic levels. That has the Low-Income Energy Network’s Jaqueline Wilson making a simple request on behalf of her group.
Wilson says it couldn’t come at a worse time.
The assistance was set at $1000 for gas and $1200 for hydro during the pandemic. While not giving out specific numbers as to how many people used it, the OEB did say they gave away all the funding they had set aside for it.
The Network’s Jaqueline Wilson says bills are becoming a challenge for everyone, especially in a certain area. Wilson says her network is asking the OEB to reverse the decision, citing the cost of pretty much everything going up.
