It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Nicole East, who passed away peacefully at the Pembroke Regional Hospital on June 14, 2026, at the age of 69, surrounded by her loving children and her dearest friend.
Nicole was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Schimmens, whose memory she carried with her every day. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and unwavering devotion to those around them.
She leaves behind her loving children: Michel Rioux, Sylvette Brousseau (David), and Chantal Rioux (Nicolas), as well as her stepson, Michael Schimmens (Leslie). She was a proud and devoted “MiMi” to her grandchildren, Paige, Matthieu, Luxzen, Garnet, Benjamin, and Gregory, who were the absolute joys of her life. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her grandchildren, sharing stories, laughter, and creating treasured memories.
Nicole will be dearly missed by her siblings, Ronald East (Sue), Marlene Brazeau (Richard), Alain East (Carolyn), and André East (Diane), along with her extended family and the entire Schimmens family.
Cremation has taken place.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Nicole with her family during visitation at the Murphy Funeral Home, 296 Isabella, Pembroke on Saturday June 27th from 10:00 a.m. until time of Service in the Chapel at 11:30 a.m. followed by a luncheon, then interment at St. Columba’s Cemetery.
In memory of Nicole, donations to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
