Pembroke’s Planning, Building and By-Law Enforcement Department has approved a request to rezone a section of Boundary Road for development. Matt Bimm is the owner of 331 Boundary Road and has been granted permission to rezone the land to General Industrial. Bimm recently purchased the property and is hoping to entice future buyers and tenants.
The proposed “General Industrial-12 – M1-12” zoning would have the standard provisions of the “M1” zone, with the following permitted
uses removed:
• “Assembly Plant”
• “Cannabis Production Facility”
• “Lumber Mill”
• “Lumber Yard”
• “Manufacturing Plant”
• “Transportation Terminal”
And the following permitted uses added:
• “Animal Hospital”
• “Car Wash”
• “Convenience Store”
• “Financial Institution”
• “Gasoline Retail Facility”
• “Retail Store, Large Format
As such, heavier industrial uses have been removed, while commercial uses have been added. This makes the proposed site-specific “M1-12” zoning highly compatible in the neighbourhood, as well as being in-keeping with the intent of the zoning by-law.
