The Pembroke Fire Department is launching a voluntary smoke alarm program for Mackay Street residents. Firefighters will conduct home inspections to check smoke alarms and offer fire safety tips.
The program focuses on issues such as the dangers of careless smoking, escape planning, and maintaining working smoke alarms. Chief Selle advises residents to use outdoor smoking areas and fully extinguish cigarettes to prevent fires.
Residents should practice fire drills and establish clear evacuation plans for emergencies. The department encourages residents to participate in the program. For more information, contact the Pembroke Fire Department or visit the City of Pembroke’s website.
