Residents of Petawawa, Pembroke, and Laurentian Valley are advised on proper handling of excess yard waste and branches this spring. Leaf and yard waste will be collected on regular collection days during the weeks of May 6 and May 20. Use reusable containers, cardboard boxes, or paper bags, avoiding plastic bags. Each container should weigh no more than 50 pounds.
Branches will be collected with leaf and yard waste on the designated dates. Green carts will be collected on designated days. Make sure the lid is closed and avoid placing bundled branches in the cart. Yard waste can be dropped off at the Ottawa Valley Waste Recovery Centre (OVWRC) for free, with fees for branches and other wood waste.
Brian Lewis, Director of Operations for Pembroke, urges proper disposal: “Avoid garden hoses or plastic bags in yard waste to protect equipment and produce high-quality compost.”
