It’s an organization that works to support children living in poverty and after a pause in activities to work on some planning, and with a new face at the helm, it’s back and there are some exciting things on the way.
Chéla Breckon is the new executive director of the Renfrew County Child Poverty Action Network (CPAN) and she’s excited to share with the community some of the many exciting things going on.
Among the exciting announcements, says Breckon, is that CPAN is recruiting a new Program and Volunteer Coordinator and seeking new volunteers in specific roles on the Board of Directors.
The group has also issued a request for quotation for graphic design services for a brand refresh, launched a ‘big spender’ Smile Cookie Workplace Challenge, has a Parent Summer Kick Off Party and Fundraiser planned for June 8 in Rankin and reports that the 2023/2024 Operation Snowsuit was a huge success with volunteer efforts from OPG in partnership with Giant Tiger Pembroke.
CPAN understands the devastating impact poverty can have on families, particularly children, and remains focused on poverty reduction and relief activities. Since recently becoming an independent organization, the organization is reorganizing at the board and managerial levels.
“It’s been like a whirlwind getting everyone organized, inspired, and ready to take action – I can’t believe how the community has responded behind the scenes with all their hearts and energy on the table” said Breckon.
