Today – Monday, April 22 – is Earth Day, time to show the earth a little love.
Whether it’s a community cleanup, donation to an environmental organization or just spending some time in nature, people across the Ottawa Valley and beyond will be marking the special day.
The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) owns the beloved Gillies Grove, a 56-acre old-growth forest in Arnprior that contains Ontario’s tallest tree.
If you’re looking for a unique way to mark Earth Day, the NCC has you covered with a number of super-cool, nature-related, do-it-yourself (DIY) projects.
Among the ideas are:
- Build a bee hotel
- Make a pine cone bird feeder
- Build a chickadee nest tube
- Natural fabric dying
- Leaf printing
Details for all the projects are available on the NCC website.
